Toward the Friend
The Late Haj
Mirza Abolfazl Senobari (May God bless his soul) passed away on February
19, 2002. It was a Tuesday evening that marked the eve of the martyrdom
anniversary of Imam Mohammad Bagher (Peace be upon him). He departed after
saying his evening prayers at the house of one of his sons in Varamin.
What seems to have been more than a coincidence is that his father and his
eldest son were both named after the 5th Shiite Imam on the eve of whose
martyrdom anniversary he passed away.
He said there was no power save that of the Almighty when he was about to
depart. He passed away in comfort as he had always wished for.
Ayatollah Sheikh Morteza Tehrani led the prayers offered on his body at
the Mausoleum of Abdolazim Hasani (Peace be upon him) in Shahr-e-Rey.
A funeral procession was held for him on February 21, 2002. The procession
got under way from the Ahmadiyeh Religious Theater at 8:30 AM. The
mourners marched on the Mausoleum of Abdolazim Hasani (Peace be upon him).
An afternoon mosque service was held in memory of this great man on
February 23 at the Ahmadiyeh Religious Theater. Later in the week, on
February 27th another function was held in his memory at the Abdolazim
Grand Mosque. Hundreds of relatives and friends attended the service that
was held between 15:00 and 17:00 local time. He was laid to rest on a
Thursday, which marked the eve of Arafa Day, a day on which Hajj pilgrims
conduct a major part of the annual major Hajj.
He was laid to rest in the courtyard of the Mausoleum of Abdolazim Hassani (Peace be upon him) in Shahr-e-Rey.
